Lenovo p50 extend display

Lenovo p50 extend display

I have my Lenovo P50 notebook with Windows 10 plugged into a docking station with 2 monitors connected Samsung 32". One monitor is using the standard analog cable and the other has to use a digital adapter to plug into the port.

One of the monitors is not detected when I go to display setting and the screen is blank. While both monitors are connected to the docking station, if I unhook the digital adapter for the monitor that does work, the one that was not previously being detected then displays properly. I have tried selecting extend, and my IT helpdesk was unable to troubleshoot.

My primary display is connected via DVI and is the one that reverts.

My secondary display is connected via VGA and it comes up as x every time, as expected. How can I fix the problem with the primary display? If I were you I'd just use discrete graphics. You may already be doing that but I can't tell from your post. If you just use discrete it should work fine. I also set my machine so that opening and closing the lid does nothing. I am using display port for my primary display.

If you give more info it will help to narrow down the issue. Each time after the P50 disabled the video output e. I am now running out of ideas.

This is very annoying! Same issue with me. Screens are x Both revert to x on boot. Save a profile when you have screens set as you like, then make a shortcut to the.

Link that to the taskbar; one-click and you'll be back in the ideal resolution. Or make a bat file that does it automatically if you always use it that way. If not a shortcut is the best bet.

It is not a fundamental problem of the display itself, since it is working fine with its native resolution while connected to the P50 directly, even after standby or reboot. Lenovo - can you please try to reproduce the issue? IMHO this is a significant problem for a workstation setup! Similarly, I experienced several display and USB connection issues with the P70 docking, which began about a week after owning the station. Direct connections to the P70 were always reliable and fine.

I started a thread on these forums to figure out what was going on, but there was no resolution or significant contribution or interest from the forum or lenovo either.

One other point I read in another post, however, was to verify that the docking station firmware was updated to the latest release mine was already updated ; perhaps you can check that on your end as well. Ultimately there was no fix, and I too chalked it up to defective docking station design, or defective interface hardware on the Pxx series.

I returned the docking station and asked for a replacement. So far, the replacement seems to be working better, although it's been only two weeks for this new one. While following these steps I had to disconnect my external display in order to manage to load the EDID from a file.

That way the display keeps virtually present even if the laptop is undocked.Berlin, Germany. The only thing that doesn't work is the HDMI connector. I assumed it will work when setting the BIOS to discrete graphics, but that didn't help as well. I have noticed another thing - In the BIOS there is a way to configue the device to which the boot screen will be sent to.

Which is not there. When looking into the NVIDIA native system information, it shows 1 native output the laptop's screen which is "connected". Other than that ttere are 3! The cable is working - I use it with a different computer and with a Rasp-PI - both detect the projector with no problem.

Another reason I believe the HDMI is deactivated is Audio - Windows usually detects the projector as an audio output device, but with the P50 and windows 10 it doesn't. I got it to work there sometimes better than Windows native control. I think the three plus Intel all try to control the hardware, but not exactly communicating properly. Nothing is shown, even in the nvidia control panel there is a "setup multiple devices" section tat shows all connected devices.

I am not able to check with any other display at the moment, but I can really say that the projector is working correctly. This is an issue with the P Either software or hardware, but something's wrong Maybe with my setup, but I really tried everything I could. I tried today with a different screen. Result - HDMI is simply not working. Connecting the screen using the DP connector worked in a second with hybrid mode in the bios.

I just received my Lenovo P It is incredible that when you receive an new mega expensive laptop that not all ports are working!! HDMI come on. I can't even extend my display. Hope someone comes with a solution.United States. I purchased a W last fall. I'm connecting through the VGA port.

How can i Duplicate it? Raleigh, NC. This is a keyboard shortcut that lets the user select display options when connected to another display. If that doesn't help, then I would make sure that all drivers for your system have been updated. All of them can be found here. Are you able to move the display to the TV only, so that nothing is on your monitor?

Also, if you have the capability, could you try to use the DisplayPort and see if this works as it should? Sydney, Australia. Extend works, duplicate doesn't. You'll see the duplicated image for a second or so and then it falls back to the previous display settings.

I actually couldn't get the nvidia solution to work and just went ahead and disabled the optimus function in the bios, now it works like a charm. It seemed backwards to me. Instead I right click on the laptop displa and clone with the external. Can anyone tell me how to make this work? Can anyone help? View All. Lastly, the Dock, but for now let's focus on the 2 built in methods. If I find a solution I will post back here but feel free to provide feedback in the meantime.

I'm able to get 2 of the U displays working, so as long as the 2nd last display is set to Display Port 1. I'm about to see if I can at least get the 3 mirroring. This is very odd I'm suspecting a driver or windows 10 issue related to EDID's not being communicated. I was able to re-arrange and assign the correct resolutions without issue over display port.
